In the rubbed smooth hollows
of the groin, the sea has hurled
its pebbles – now marooned,

mute and motionless, swallowed
by air. In time, they may
be freed to clink in shingle –

bumping underfoot. It follows
as ebb turns flow, as rough is worn
to silken driftwood by sheer

persistence. Grained loops
thinning to wide hollows – bleached
bowls to catch tomorrow.

  2. Very pleased to hear that Paul – perfectly clear in my head but never sure how it translates to someone reading.. 🙂 Don’t suppose you have a suitable image? I forgot to take one when I was down at East Wittering where this idea was seeded!
