Here, Now, Westward Ho!

Surely the world’s cleanest air –
dazzling up-drafts and spring-tide panoramas
suck breath, buff eyes to a shine.

She anchors us, your Labrador, a black
bouncing nudge to gulp down the day.

Eddies of intimacy lap back and forth,
unspoken, easy. Stories and joys

(soaring like frisbies on the Atlantic
breeze) weave a net of memory
and flex the horizon between

sea and flying sky
++++now and then
++++++++you and me.

A kite rockets overhead, filling
our gaze, our gasp
with now.

  1. The gulping paired with the easy eddies, this is wonderful. I get a sense of the small and the large here. I esp. enjoy your close, though the whole piece rings of a palpable Now.
