Cystic Silence

December 17, 2011

Beneath the nap of velvet lies
a silent liver tinted cyst
compressed in stifled bilious fists

and lips stitched shut by flintlock eyes.
It seeps acidic, scorching deep,
articulates flame-licks, unties

your tongue. A cane-fire magma twist
erupting nap of velvet lies.

  1. snap becky this is brilliant…vivid pic and words to match…that opening stanza just rocks off the tongue as well…

A plethora of words that slip-slide off my lips unlike what is possible for the woman in the photo (ouch). I really enjoyed the sharp word choices here. Great poem, Becky.
